Drop of a lampshade
is measured:

The drop dictates the precise location where the
lampshade sits on a lamp base.

To
measure the drop of the washer or fitter place the
lampshade on a flat surface turn the lampshade upside
down and measure the distance up to the washer in
the center of the top ring. (Usually ½"
but in older lampshades it may go up to 5"
or greater or even be flush). |
